Location of London Metropolitan University

This course explores the key disciplines of business economics to equip you with the skills necessary for career positions in national and international companies. It provides an exposition of theoretical and operational issues as well as the use of analytical techniques and research methods in business economics. You will develop an understanding of regulatory and cultural constraints to business activities and management; engage in key issues in international negotiations; develop a critical understanding of international business strategy; and evaluate the implications of different economic, political and social environments of international business.

Career opportunities

The course is of particular interest to graduates seeking careers at a senior management level in national and multinational corporations, as well as the public, NGO, and government sectors. It will also be attractive to economists and managers already in employment wishing to update and expand their knowledge with regards to the global business economy.

You take six taught modules, five of which are core and one is an option, together with a dissertation of 15,000 words.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used including traditional examinations, open book computer workshops, group work, case studies, essays, reports and presentations.

Requirements

Normally at least a lower second-class UK Honours degree or equivalent in: Economics, Finance, Business Studies, Accounting, Management Science or related degree with a major component in Economics, including those with a joint degree in Economics. Applicants with substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered. Credit transfer is possible if there is evidence that the material covered in any module has been satisfactorily assessed to Masters level. Those without the standard requirements can attend the Graduate Diploma in Economics course prior to enrolling on this postgraduate degree.
