The Master´s programme in Humanitarian Action is offered by seven European universities in The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Belgium and France. They are united in the Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA).
This interdisciplinary Master´s programme teaches students the methods and skills required to assess the means of intervention employed by humanitarian agencies, the consequences of international interventions and reconstruction programmes. It provides students with a solid foundation for understanding the political, geopolitical, economic and social causes of conflicts and disastercoping strategies. It introduces ways of coping with the consequences of disasters and conflicts in close co-operation with local communities.
NOHA aims to familiarize students and working professionals with the relevant academic competencies, but also with practical competences such as management skills, familiarity with humanitarian aid operations and the ability to assess problems and solutions timely. Students also acquire personal skills, such as cross-cultural communication skills, flexibility, teamwork ability and self-evaluation.
