This course is aimed at graduates aspiring to work in sports business or management by gaining a Masters award that develops sector-specific knowledge and appropriate skills in a sports management context. It is also aimed at professionals working in the sports industry, either in sport management, sports marketing, events organisation, or other appropriate area and who wish to build on that experience through a structured programme of study.
The programme focuses almost equally on the business and services-end of sport with the priority to provide skills and expertise that will be reflected in the ability of students to find work quickly once they graduate and to be able to make an immediate practical contribution. The option of undertaking a 12-week internship further offers students invaluable experience in the sports industry that is intended to advance employment opportunities.
The main emphasis in the course is on understanding the management, marketing and policy development challenges of delivering sports services within today's fast-moving environment. The course helps students to develop skills and competencies that are valued by employers and necessary for success at senior levels of sport management.
Careers
With a degree in sports management and the proper training and experience, students will be well prepared to enter the sport business industry anywhere in the world in areas such as marketing, public relations, sales, facility management, information technology, law, media and communications, event management, sport production and supply chain management, finance, economics and athletic management; plus sport governance and leadership.
Recent graduates have progressed to employment in international, national and local sporting associations including the International Tennis Federation, the Asian Football Federation, the London FA, the Lawn Tennis Association and the Amateur Swimming Association. Graduates have also found work at professional sporting associations including Arsenal and Fulham FC, and London Irish Rugby Club, as well as with government sporting organisations including UK Sport and Sport England.
The course consists of five core modules, one optional module and a 15,000 word dissertation or a 12-week internship.

Assessment
Each module consists of a mixture of lectures, seminars, discussions, group activities, workshops, site visits, guest speakers, projects, tutorials and self-managed study. A variety of assessment methods are used including essays, reports, case studies, business plans and presentations.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testYou should possess a good Honours degree, equivalent to that from a UK university. For those who do not hold a degree or relevant professional qualification, extensive experience together with evidence of scholarly ability will be required. Where possible candidates will be interviewed.
