The aims of the programme are to enhance and extend the professional skills, knowledge and understanding of the participants in the following ways:
* Developing advanced knowledge and understanding of current educational issues and theories
* Developing the capacity to analyse critically evidence and arguments to support professional judgements in complex and ambiguous situations
* Making an informed contribution to current educational debates and discussions
* Applying advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of theoretical perspectives and approaches to enhance personal professional practice
* Developing the capacity to shape and lead change in a variety of policy and practice settings
* Exploiting opportunities to use research to generate professional knowledge and enhance policy and practice
The programme is comprised of: Six courses contributing to a total of 180 credit points (165 credits at SCQF Level 11 and 15 credits at SCQF Level 10). All courses are compulsory, but some may be substituted for under special circumstances and with prior agreement of the Programme Director.
Course 1: Personal Effectiveness in Education Studies(15 credits SCFQ level 10).
Course 2: Educational Issues and the Global Society(15 credits at SCQF Level 11)
Course 3: Enhanced Practice in Learning and Teaching (30 credits at SCQF Level 11)
Course 4: Exploring Leadership(30 credits at SCQF Level 11)
Course 5: Professional Enquiry(30 credits at SCQF Level 11).
Course 6: Dissertation (60 credits at SCQF Level 11).
All courses are compulsory, but some may be substituted for under special circumstances and with prior agreement of the Programme Director. No substitution is possible in the case of Courses 5 and 6. Participants who complete successfully the first three courses and 60 credits may exit with a Certificate. Those who complete successfully the first five courses and 120 credits may exit with a diploma. Those who complete successfully all six courses and 180 credits will achieve the award of a Master of Education degree.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
