Participants will:
o extend their knowledge and understanding of leadership and management theory
o engage in critical reflection on their own practice by analysing critically evidence and arguments to support professional judgements in complex and sometimes ambiguous situations
o enhance their skills to lead improvement in professional settings (including education, social services, nursing, other caring agencies and the police)
o frame enquiries into practice to make an informed contribution to current professional debates
o work towards, and demonstrate competence against, a range of professional Standards
By providing a flexible programme of modules, the programme will:
o show how research generates different perspectives on professional knowledge
o enable participants to gain a deeper understanding of a range of theoretical approaches and how these can be applied to improve professional practice
o facilitate the generation, leading and evaluation of change solutions in a variety of practice settings.

The programme provides a menu of courses carrying either 15 or 30 credits at SCQF Level 11 (PG5). Participants who successfully complete 60 credits may leave with a Certificate. Those who successfully complete 120 credits may leave with a Diploma and the MSc degree is awarded on the successful completion of 180 credits.
Three main kinds of courses enable participants to choose a pathway which reflects their own experience and qualification aspirations:
A. Developing and Applying Leadership(for participants with little experience of leadership)
Introducing Leadership (15 credits)
Exploring Leadership (30 credits)
Leading Learning and Teaching (15 credits)
Change Knowledge (15 credits)
Small-Scale Project Leadership (30 credits)
B. Integrating Leadership (for participants with experience of leadership in particular settings)
Leading Professional Development(30 credits)
Mentoring and Coaching (30 credits)
Leading and Developing People and Teams (30 credits)
Leading Effective School Improvement (30 credits)
International Education (30 credits)
Professional Enquiry (30 credits)
C. Demonstrating Leadership (for participants who have aceived 120 credits by study or by Accreditation of Prior Learning [APL] and who can provide a CPD portfolio whcih contains evidence of leadership activity)
Dissertation or Work-based project (60 credits)
Each course has requirements for participation in on-line or face-to-face activities and is graded by a summative written assignmnet on a specified topic, or by grading of the dissertation or report of the work-based project.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testApplicants will be graduates or able to provide evidence that they can work at postgraduate level. They must have previous relevant experience and be able to undertake studies and related developments in their workplace setting or other appropriate agency.
