This specialist masters course is designed to provide high level education to those who have a background in electronics, telecommunications, computer science or related areas, and who are interested to work in satellite or mobile telecommunications at a technical and/or managerial level.
The course provides an in-depth understanding of mobile, wireless and satellite communications principles and related technologies that are now stimulating the telecommunications revolution. In addition, it provides a state-of-the-art update on key emerging technologies and future systems.
The blend of taught subjects, laboratory based case studies and dissertation provides you with the necessary, up-to-date knowledge you need to join the fast-moving area of global communications. The course aims to develop expertise in these areas and to prepare you to adapt to future changes.
Students will learn how to design and analyse mobile cellular and satellite communication systems for prescribed quality of service and how to optimise multiple access technologies.

You are assessed via coursework reports, case studies, individual and group research assignments, examinations and a final dissertation.

Normally a lower second-class Honours degree in Electronics or Computer Science or a similar subject. Those with relevant professional qualifications or extensive professional experience will also be considered and are strongly encouraged to apply. Those with other degrees are also welcome to apply.
