The course will provide you with essential knowledge of the diverse subjects which comprise international trade and transport and an understanding of the relationships between them. In particular the aims of the course are to:

* develop the generic business skills required by managers working in the area of international trade;
* develop critical analysis skills and apply them to the challenges arising in international trade and transport;
* gain an appreciation of the significance of law and finance to the functioning of international trade;
* develop the ability to undertake problem-solving research in both academic and business environments

In order to achieve these aims, the degree is structured with a mixture of subject-specific and generic topics. In drawing up this course, experts from the shipping industry and commodity trades assisted with their advice.

Career opportunities

Most of our graduates enter the shipping, transport, logistics and trading industries. Many have pursued successful career paths. On graduation you can also apply for transfer to MPhil/PhD. Examples include a former graduate now heading up the Research division of a major oil tanker company, another working with a Russian oil trading business based in Geneva. Other graduates are active as shipbrokers, logistics supply chain analysts and in other related fields.
