The MRes is a two-year, part-time programme aimed at graduating people who will be capable of leading innovation in the field of systems engineering. It will be run in very close collaboration with industry and alongside the existing EngD in Systems. The programme will comprise 80 credit points of taught units and a 100 credit point dissertation.

Contents

The taught component will be offered via short course modules, typically of five days' duration.

The teaching is divided into two streams:

* Systems Engineering, covering generic system engineering material
* Management and Enterprise, covering business and planning material

The six mandatory units are as follows, all at Level M with ten credit points each:

* Research Methods 1
* Research Methods 2
* Introduction to Systems
* Mathematics for Systems
* Advanced Systems
* Integrating Engineering and Management Systems

The remaining 20 credit points will be obtained from a wide range of units in the areas of general management and risk management, all at Masters Level and typically with ten credit points each. They will be determined by the student, the academic supervisor and the industrial supervisor to best meet the requirements of the industrially-focused research topic.

Dissertation (100 credit points)

The industrial company will identify the research topic and the project will be agreed by the company, the student and the Director of the MRes programme. All projects will be run collaboratively between the company and the University of Bristol.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
