The Computer Systems master's programme focuses on the development of complex state-of-the-art computer systems. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the various interacting layers of complex computer systems, from hardware and systems software to networks and applications.
Modern computer systems are extremely diverse, from "invisible" computers hidden in cars, mobile phones and MP3 players to the familiar PCs or the most sophisticated supercomputers. Most of these computers do not work in isolation but are interconnected through complex wired or wireless networks.
The programme is firmly anchored in the nationally and internationally recognised research conducted in the areas of Computer Systems and Computer Science at Linköping University.
A wide range of fast developing industry sectors are generating an increasing demand for skilled professionals in the Computer Systems area. The Computer Systems master's programme gives students the solid basis needed to take advantage of professional opportunities as a computer systems' engineer in the high-tech industry. It also constitutes an excellent platform for a continuation as a PhD student.
The Computer Systems master's programme deepens the knowledge in design, programming and use of such systems. Students can choose from one of the following specialisations:
