The MBA Corporate programme is tailored to meet the requirements of the sponsoring organisation and the participants of the programme. This is achieved within the rigorous academic framework applicable to an MBA of the highest quality. In addition to gaining the breadth of knowledge across the required range of subjects, participants are strongly encouraged to focus on their own industry, their own organisation, their own professional and personal development and relevant other sources of practitioner expertise from which they can benefit. The objectives of the programme are to create tangible value for corporate clients and for each programme participant, and specifically to enable each participant to:
• create connections between theory and practice in their industry or sector;
• understand the disciplines which underpin effective management and leadership;
• develop inter-disciplinary problem-solving skills;
• foster initiative and creativity;
• be leaders of change.
Aims and Objectives:
The MBA Corporate programme is a partnership between the client organisation, DCU and each programme participant. The programme combines academic quality and rigour with the opportunity for the client organisation and participants to make a major input into programme detail, particularly the later stages. The highly interactive learning process involves input from participants, discussions, presentations, case studies and practical application.
There is a strong emphasis on teamwork to accelerate learning and develop personal skills. Action Learning will underpin most of what is done. An over-riding objective of the programme is to create an environment where accelerated individual learning and development can take place.
To achieve the award of MBA participants must complete the entire programme of four semesters to the required academic standard. While it is expected that participants will complete the full programme, there are exit options as follows:
• Postgraduate certificate after satisfactory completion of two semesters of study;
• Postgraduate diploma after satisfactory completion of three semesters of study.
Certain MBA modules will be specifically customised to the needs of the participants and the client organisation.
The content of these customised modules will focus on:
• Major forces affecting the industries/ sectors within which the organisation operates;
• Activities to deliver most effectively the immediate strategic goals of the organisation;
• The longer term future of the organisation;
• Accelerating the individual development of each participant.
The degree is awarded on satisfactory completion of four semesters of study. There are two semesters in an academic year, from September to December and from February to May. The delivery format is by way of block release averaging three days per month, which may be extended to four days per month during semester three. The programme in the main will be delivered at DCU Business School premises.Team-building weekends are at off-site locations.
