The executive MBA programme at Dublin City University Business School has been running since 1990. It provides an integrative and strategic approach to business operations and decision-making. The programme is aimed at established business professionals and technical/engineering specialists making the transition to senior management positions.
To engage participants in high level strategic analysis and develop the personal attributes critical to leadership success, participants are brought through a learning experience which includes work-based assignments, business simulations, group presentations and team work.
This two-year part-time programme is designed to provide a thorough knowledge of the principal functions of management, to broaden perspectives, and to produce sound generalists who can integrate high intellectual skills with senior management effectiveness.
The DCU MBA provides students with an understanding of the many business functions in a manner that allows them to apply the various perspectives of business in the identification and implementation of business strategy. It is also focused on the enhancement of personal attributes that will equip students to significantly develop their own careers and lead and renew their organisations.
Students undertake four semesters of classes over two academic years. The first semester runs for 12 weeks from the end of September to the middle of December, with written exams in mid-January. The second semester in each year also runs for twelve weeks, beginning in February and ending in late April, with exams in mid-May.
In order to minimise the impact on participants´ working and life arrangements, applicants can apply for either of two delivery modes:
Mode A: Classes are held one day per week from 2.00pm to 9.30pm over the academic year.
Mode B: Block Release - classes are held 3 days per month, normally Thursday, Friday and Saturday (8.30am to 4.30pm) over the academic year.
