The overall aims of this programme are to:
* Promote students´ reflection on the roles and responsibilities of journalism in international contexts;
* Provide a structured context for international study and, through some partners work experience in journalism.
The programme is designed mainly for graduates of journalism degree programmes who wish to deepen their understanding of journalism´s role in international society and develop their capacity to operate professionally in international contexts. Such entrants may be recent graduates or may have worked in the news media. Applicants with lesser qualifications but with relevant experience and demonstrated interest may also be eligible for this programme.
This programme complements the existing MA in Journalism and the MA in International Communication and shares some modules with those programmes in the first semester. Because living abroad for an extended period is central to the programme, students from Ireland will, in the second semester, attend courses at partner universities elsewhere in Europe, in the United States or in Australia. Non-Irish students may study abroad in the second semester or remain in Dublin, as they choose.
