The MSc programme in Business and Economics will offer students a critical analysis of fundamental subjects such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, statistics, econometrics, and some more specific ones, such as industrial organisation, finance, international economics, and economics of knowledge. In addition, it provides an ample portfolio from which to choose elective courses. In particular, students can decide to focus in Finance, Management, or International Business.

Applicants are not required to have prior training in Economics. However, students who have already a good background in Economics, Statistics and Econometrics can request to the director of the Master to replace one or more compulsory courses with those offered by other SKEMA Master Programmes.

Why choose this programme

This programme is offered in partnership with OFCE of Sciences Po, Paris. The OFCE is both a university research centre and an institution for forecasting and evaluating public policies.

It brings together over 40 French and international researchers, including several internationally renowned research fellows and three Nobel Prize laureates. The OFCE scholars investigate the main fields of theoretical and empirical research (macroeconomic theory, growth, social welfare systems, taxation, job policies, European construction, competition, regulations, industrial policy, globalisation...).

They also inform policy makers about social and economic issues, such as the reform of the French pension system, the bailing out of Greece, the competitiveness of firms, the challenges and opportunities of free trade, or the containment of the public debt.

This is a high-quality and highly selective programme; you can expect to gain a significant edge in getting a job that requires analytical thinking. Furthermore, interacting with an outstanding faculty (all professors have Ph.Ds of well known national and international institutions) will facilitate building up an excellent professional network.

The main objective of the programme is to teach students how to apply key economic principles to understand and solve practical business problems in a range of fields, including banking, telecommunications, intellectual property rights, energy, and commerce. A particular emphasis will be given to the management of knowledge as a way to succeed in your chosen career.

Career opportunities

Graduates can expect to find employment in a wide range of businesses as:

  • business analysts and consultants,
  • project analysts or industry economists in government and private sector organisations;
  • managers;
  • policy advisors;

Students who are inclined to quantitative studies can also expect to find employment as researchers in economic thinktanks or be admitted to doctoral graduate programmes.
