Location of Dublin Institute of Technology

This programme is aimed at graduate engineers who would like to continue their studies and learn about automation and control systems engineering and how they are applied to the process industries. It is also aimed at scientists and engineers who are working in the pharmaceutical and related industries and who would like to move into a control and automation engineering role. This requires knowledge and understanding of the instrumentation used in these industries, how control systems work, how to tune a control loop, and how PLCs, SCADA systems and a DCS are used to monitor and control a highly automated process plant. Knowledge of the process itself and some process engineering are also required along with an understanding of how the industry is regulated and validated. All these issues are covered here.

Graduates are eligible for the award of Masters of Engineering in Pharmaceutical Process Control and Automation of the Dublin Institute of Technology.

This programme will develop the knowledge and skills set required to work at a high level of research, design and development in control and automation in the Pharmaceutical and related process industries.
