This programme lays a solid foundation for working with project management, organisational development and broader issues of societal development.
In this programme you are trained to reflect and act in consideration of the relationship between culture and leadership, working with broad coalitions of stakeholders, cross-sector collaboration and social innovation.
This programme consists of two major courses:
* Project management and organisation deals with models and strategies for organising projects and working with organisational development and challenges of sustainable development. You will undertake group work, look at inter-organisational projects and develop an essay or project work.
* Social entrepreneurship and innovation provides you with an understanding of entrepreneurial processes and innovation; communication, networks and collaboration; community and citizenship; and resource and support structures. At the end of this course you will research and write your Master’s thesis.
After graduation, you may work in different areas depending on your specialisation and interests. The skills acquired are relevant for a manager in municipal, regional or governmental agencies, in the private and non-profit sector, or as a consultant. The entrepreneurial content of the course stimulates you to initiate projects, organisations or businesses that work towards sustainable development.
What career will I be prepared for?
This programme lays a solid foundation for those seeking to work as key players in project management and organisational development environments, and where the broader issues of societal development are important. The skills acquired will be relevant for managers in local, national and international governmental bodies, the private and non-profit sector and in consultancy work.
The entrepreneurial content of the course is designed to stimulate and encourage students to initiate projects, businesses or organisations with the purpose of working towards sustainable development.
What is Leadership for Sustainability about?
The challenges of sustainability cannot be mastered with technical solutions alone. There is a need to rethink commonly held perceptions of leadership and organisational development. In this programme, students are taught to reflect upon, and act in consideration of, issues such as the relationship between culture and leadership, working with broad coalitions of stakeholders, cross-sector collaboration, and social innovation.
What makes Leadership for Sustainability unique?
This master's programme is focused on action and doing, not just thinking and planning. We encourage students to work in partnerships and regard leadership as a group process. For example, our students have the opportunity to work with local school children on issues of sustainbility in schools.
