The Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Leadership (Higher Education Administration) has been designed to meet the needs of Higher Education Institutions to develop their administrators through a carefully structured, accredited management programme.

The Diploma provides a unique opportunity to study for a university award. It is a competence-based programme, which provides a general management qualification, tailored to the requirements of Higher Education Administrators and offers a broad perspective of the environment in which Higher Education operates. Those who successfully complete the Diploma are eligible to progress with credit onto The Loughborough MBA, our award-winning, AMBA accredited part-time MBA.

Who Will Benefit?
The Diploma programme is designed for experienced administrators and will provide a sound basis for those seeking to extend their studies to MSc. The programme is suitable for administrators from both departmental and central administration.


Contents

The Diploma stage of the programme is part-time and will extend over an 18 month period. It involves a combination of short courses, distance learning and work-based assignments. The programme will be delivered via block release and is taught by School staff assisted by Senior Administrators of the University. The programme is preceded by an induction event.

The Masters stage is by dissertation over a 12 month period.

Assessment

Modules are assessed by work-based projects, MSc by a supervised project.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Significant managerial experience within a higher education (HE) environment at a middle management level or a first degree. Holders of the AUA Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice who wish to Progress to Diploma and Masters are eligible for exemptions.

All applicants must have an acceptable qualification in English language before they can be admitted to any postgraduate programme. Below are the main English language qualifications acceptable for entry to the University (these are the minimum and some departments may require higher levels):

* GCSE English Language – Grade C or above
* IELTS band 6.5 or above with not less than 6.0 in each sub test
* TOEFL (including the Tests in Written and Spoken Practice) minimum score of 100 (Internet-based test) overall with no less than 21 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 23 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
