TELEMEDIA is a Master in Telecommunications and Multimedia.
It is offered by the Faculty of Engineering of UMONS (Polytech'Mons), in collaboration with the NUMEDIART Institute for New Media Art Technology and the MULTITEL Research Center, all located in Mons, Belgium.
It specifically targets students already having a Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, and willing to obtain a Belgian Master degree specialized in Telecommunications and Multimedia in one year.
TELEMEDIA graduates have a privileged access to PhD programmes (specific grants available at Polytech'Mons) and to industrial posi-tions in Belgium.
The TELEMEDIA programme is also accessible to Erasmus students willing to complete the last year of their Master Degree in Belgium. These students will not receive a Master degree from Polytech'Mons (the Master degree will be delivered by their own university).
All courses are taught in English.
The TELEMEDIA course programme is organized as a 1-year curriculum composed of 60 ECTS credits.
It mostly consists in applied courses, such as Applied Signal Processing, Statistical Pattern Recognition, Advanced Communication Systems, Embedded Systems Design, Image and Speech Processing, Photonic and Advanced Networks, or Web Technology. It also implies the fulfilment of a project (fall semester) and of a Master thesis (spring semester), both under the supervision of an expert, and offers a series of industrial seminars.
All courses are taught in English. Students can also choose optional courses in French (including a special French course for beginners) to improve French while studying in English.

Regular students of TELEMEDIA should already have a Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science to be enrolled in the 1-year Master curriculum.
Applicants should fill in an admission file to the Faculty of Engineering, available from the UMONS Admission's office web page and specifically mention in this file that they are interested the 1-year Master in Electrical Engineering curriculum for the specialism in Telecommunications and Multimedia.
Applications will be examined by a faculty committee before approval, based on the student's educational background, motivation, and knowledge of English (e.g., scores for TOEIC or TOEFL).
The TELEMEDIA programme is also accessible to Erasmus students willing to complete the last year of their Master Degree in Belgium (see our Erasmus web page). Students applying for such an Erasmus exchange should be in the last year of the Master in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and should be a regular student at a European university having an Erasmus agreement with Polytech'Mons. They will not receive a Master degree from Polytech'Mons (the Master degree will be delivered by their own university).
