The Mechanical Engineering MSc builds on your undergraduate knowledge base through a number of advanced modules in core subject areas.

These are supported by modules in business and electromechanics, providing you with an insight of the engineering business environment and broadening your understanding of other engineering disciplines.

The course provides you with an understanding of the methodology used in research and an awareness of the numerical techniques underpinning the tools employed in mechanical and thermal analysis.

Topicality and direct application to the needs of society are also catered for, providing you with an understanding of the environmental impact of human activities and energy consumption and the role of the mechanical engineer in seeking appropriate solutions.

Career opportunities

Graduates will be equipped to take up responsible positions within a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, energy and power among others. They will also be prepared, if they wish, to continue on the research path to a doctorate degree.
