Changing, i.e. responding to the market and to other developments, is essential for survival for many organizations. To organise is to change and to change is to organise. In the past, Change Management (CM) was a subject only addressed incidentally; once a business had been through a process of change, it was time for a period of `rest´.

However, change is nowadays a crucial and permanently topical matter for organizations. This in turn creates a need for experts who have insight in business processes, organizational structure, leadership style and human resource management. The MSc BA Change Management programme trains these experts.

You will gain insight into the processes behind change, the impact that changes may have on an organization and its members, and the role you will play in this, for example as a manager or as an internal or external consultant. More specifically, you will learn the management and organizational knowledge you need to plan, evaluate and modify change processes in organizations.

You will also acquire the skills you will need to manage change programmes at individual, group or organization levels. Further, you will learn skills for supporting organizations during such processes, such as communicative and social skills, and how to conduct research independently, for example an analysis of problem situations.

Graduates of the Change Management programme are able to work independently as change managers within organizations.

Contents

The Master´s degree programme 60 European Credits (EC) consists of various courses (lectures, guest lectures, group assignments in tutorials and simulations) and a Master´s thesis.

Writing the Master thesis is an individual task, worth 20 EC. It consists of conducting and reporting upon research in a company or a consultation firm. It is programmed in the second semester. Preparatory steps, however, are being taken starting the beginning of the first semester. The thesis preparation is embedded in a separate 5 EC course where among other things the participants help each other in designing a research set-up.

Organizational change plays an important role in all kinds of fields. The optional modules (10 EC) enable you to specialize further in strategy and innovation, processes and IT or management.
