This master's degree combines specialisations in comparative literature and in translation in order to give a more complete approach to literature. Students with a degree in Humanities and in the different philologies can benefit from reflecting on language and literature as provided by the study of translations; in turn, students with a degree in Translation and Interpretation with a preference for literary translation from the academic or research points of view can strengthen their knowledge of the theory and the history by studying the different branches of comparative literature.
Objectives
To train students in literary studies from a multicultural and multilingual perspective of comparative literature and literary translation, based on their previous training in bachelor's degrees in the Humanities, Translation and Interpretation and the different philologies.

Introduction to research course type
* Students must take the compulsory module, the introduction to research module, two optional modules (A and B), and carry out a research assignment worth 20 credits.
Advanced academic training course type
* Students must take one compulsory module, four optional modules (two As and two Bs), and carry out a final master's degree project worth 10 credits.
Compulsory subjects
* Research Paper (for the introduction to research course type)
* Final Master's Degree Project (for the academic course type)
* Introduction to Comparative Literature (for both course types)
* Literary Genres and Translation (for both course types)
* Advanced Research Theories and Methods in Humanities (for the introduction to research course type)
* Introduction to Research in Translation (for the introduction to research course type)
Optional subjects
Optional modules (10 ECTS credits per module):
A1: Literature. A2: Topics in Literary History. A3: Literary Theory Topics. B1: Translation, Reception and Literature. B2: Literary Translation: Strategies and Procedures. B3: Reflections on Translation.
* Official undergraduate degree/diploma (or a bachelor's degree, a degree in engineering or architecture, diplomas, technical engineering and technical architecture diplomas, or, for foreign qualifications, the equivalent qualification awarded by an accredited higher education institution) and the academic transcript of the accredited official training with the average grade at the university of origin. Qualifications can be in the following academic areas: Humanities, Languages and Literature, Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature, Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Translation and Interpretation or Philology.
* Curriculum Vitae in Spanish or Catalan.
* For the Academic track: A letter of motivation in Spanish or Catalan, stating the candidate's interest in following the master's programme (400 to 600 words)
* For the Professional track: A research proposal in Spanish or Catalan (600 to 800 words).
