Location of University of Buckingham

The University of Buckingham offers three MD programmes, all leading to the degree of MD in General Internal Medicine:

* A 2-year structured Clinical MD in General Internal Medicine commenced in May 2008 for doctors wishing to enroll with the University of Buckingham (with modules in different UK hospitals) and leads to the award of MD in General Internal Medicine.
* A 3-year structured Clinical MD in General Internal Medicine leads to the award of MD in General Internal Medicine. The 3 year MD programme is expected to attract newly qualified doctors who have just completed the 1-year compulsory internship.
* A combined Research cum Clinical MD programme is currently enrolling with the first year in Medical Research based at the renowned Clore Laboratory at the University of Buckingham and leading to the award of MSc in Medical Research. This is followed by 2 year Clinical MD leading to the award of MD in General Internal Medicine.
This 1-year MSc + 2-year Clinical MD programme is geared for doctors who want formal research experience in addition to clinical training in General Internal Medicine.

All MD programmes are fully quality assured and are on a par with an MD from any other UK university. As with other university degrees, international recognition will be on a country-by-country basis and according to local regulations. Approval from the General Medical Council or Royal College of Physicians is not needed for such courses. Candidates will be given every encouragement to sit the PLAB test and MRCP(UK) should they so desire.
