For a use of the most modern techniques : the teaching methods put to work are based on a project based methodology with a particular interest in computer aided architectural design.

The architect in the environment of human beings : the engineer also plays a social role. We thus find in the education programme courses on sociology, aesthetics, law, economics and management which ensure a complete education.

Career opportunities : the career opportunities for an architecture civil engineer are numerous and varied :

  • as a project´s author: the large architectural studios, technical research offices, town planning agencies;
  • as a self employed worker within public and private works companies: fitter of real estate operations, project co-ordinator, manager of large sites in public services;

Choose one focus from the following :

1. Masters with research focus :

2 possible options :

  • Town and transport planning : aims at arranging architectural projects on complex sites. It focuses on morphological analysis, the design of public spaces and built areas, mobility and transport as well impact studies. In the French Speaking Community of Belgium this is the only option which links to such an extent the design of urban projects to the mobility and transport issues.
  • Architecture and building engineering option : offers the mastery of building technologies and facilities. It focuses notably on project management, lighting and acoustic techniques, air conditioning, building maintenance and restoration, the co-ordination and safety of the building site.

2. Masters with a professional focus in Management :

This is a very interesting opportunity to combine a specialised education in management jointly organised with the HEC-ULg management school. In this case 30 credits of technical training are replaced with 30 credits devoted to business company management. This combination, unique in the French Speaking Community of Belgium, is an ULg exclusive.

This programme has been specifically designed to allow students to pass as quickly as possible from the stage of learning essential notions to an understanding of business companies and to a practical on field.

Based on a participative teaching practice, this education enables you to acquire solid basics in finance, strategy, marketing, human resource management, organisation, leadership, and production and supply chain management. You are placed in real situations: you go straight into the business in order to analyse how it functions and to carry out a diagnosis and a business plan for it. It should be pointed out that most courses are taught in English.

This option allows you to reorient your career differently according to the opportunities you come across, all the while being equipped with the skills expected of a civil engineer. It in this way responds to strong demand on the part of businesses in terms of the profile of future graduates.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
