Biomedicine is a rapidly developing science. Thanks to new multidisciplinary research approaches that integrate knowledge from medical, biological, chemical, technical and social sciences, the process of knowledge growth will continue and accelerate in the near future.
This programme has a distinct research preparative profile. The choice of courses offers individual study plans and flexibility creating a profile that increases employability.
The aim of the programme is to provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in biomedicine and how to work independently and professionally in clinical and research settings such as universities, health care, trade and industry, both nationally and internationally.
Employment and career opportunities
Graduates of the Medical Biosciences programme obtain positions in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical and food industries, where they will be working on highly complex projects. They will set up, and often be in charge of, laboratory projects within health care, as well as within research and education at universities and colleges.
The programme’s modules provide extensive theoretical knowledge, specific laboratory and methodological skills. Special emphasis will be placed on the principles of scientific reasoning and logic, ethical attitudes, multidisciplinary collaboration and preparing students for an independent and professional future in the field of biomedicine.
In order to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration, students will work in small, cohesive groups that stimulate networking amongst students with different educational backgrounds.
The instructional method, problem-based learning (PBL), encourages a spirit of inquiry and promotes lifelong learning and provides tools for students to function in a rapidly developing world.
Included in the programme are mandatory courses on, for instance, scientific methodology and biostatistics, elective courses in different areas of medical biology and even individual projects.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
