Location of Anglo-American University

The main goal of the program is to prepare the students

(1) for employment in an international dimension where a high level of professionalism is required (diplomacy, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations, national, international and supranational organizations, in "think tanks," in academic institutions and in research or in international business);

(2) for post-graduate study in Political Science, International Relations, Diplomacy, History and other fields at universities in the Czech Republic and abroad.

After completition of this program, students should

  1. be able to approach issues and processes within the international environment with a high level of professional qualification (knowledge of theories of international relations, ability to analyze and evaluate problems within a larger geopolitical, economic, historical, social, and cultural context;
  2. be able to use the skills of negotiation, intercultural communication and diplomatic protocol;
  3. be able to analyze documents and other sources of international relations and diplomacy, and qualitatively and qualitatively evaluate sources;
  4. be knowledgeable in modern and contemporary history, particularly history of international relations and diplomacy;
  5. have basic knowledge of international law;
  6. be able to produce work results at such a level that would fulfill the criteria required within international professional milieu;
  7. be able to identify main trends of development of international relations, main problems and potential conflicts, and to formulate recommendations and conclusions.

Accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education.

This program is structured as a classical International Relations and Diplomacy Program composed of the following sections: theory of international relations, international economy, conflict studies, international law, diplomatic history, area studies and diplomacy.

The main focus of this program will be on the process of European integration within the Trans-Atlantic dimension of International Relations, yet in response to the rapidly growing significance of China, India and other Asian countries in the globalizing world there are also political, economic and social issues of the East (South East and East Asia) which will be included. Of course, other areas such as sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, and Latin America will be examined as well.
