Location of Leeds Metropolitan University

Leeds Business School is a key player in public relations and communications education, helping you maximise your potential and continue your professional development. We have the largest PR education centre in Europe. Our Centre for Public Relations Studies is headed by Professor Anne Gregory, former president of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

The modules delivered on the MA International Communication focus on the challenges that communications practitioners face in their professional work and career development, generating direct value for participants. This is reflected in the range of modules which combine a view on strategic and international communications management, additional knowledge of specialised areas and the reflection of future trends.
Expected outcomes are that graduates of the course could work for an international PR consultancy, a multinational company or global organisations in either the private or the public sector, including several institutions of the European Union.
There is a clear focus during the course on working with clients and on practical problem-solving in the communications sphere.

Those taking the first semester with us at Leeds Business School will benefit from studying in the English language - increasingly the dominant language for communications professionals across the world.

Contents

A key feature of the course is that students will study the course at more than one university. Students will study at their home university in semester one. Semester two will be spent at another university in the consortium, before the dissertation is completed under the supervision of both universities during the third and final semester.
The universities forming the consortium are Leeds Metropolitan; IULM, Milan, Italy; the New Bulgarian University, Sofia, Bulgaria; Hanze University, Groningen, the Netherlands, the University of Vilnius, Lithuania; and Budapest Business School, Hungary.
Students will gain experience of different national cultures and will be equipped with skills needed to work in cross-cultural environments. Those taking the first semester at Leeds Metropolitan will benefit from gaining experience of communications education in an English language setting and culture.
Core modules in semester one:

* Corporate Communication in an Intercultural Context
* Global Business Environment
* Communication Planning and Management
* Research Methods
* Personal Development Planning

Students joining Leeds Business School in semester two will take the following options:
