Practical teaching is carried out on two full days a week in a school where the principal and members of staff have agreed to co-operate with the NUI Maynooth Education Department in this phase of the work. Students spend about 65 days per year in a school within a 40 mile radius of Maynooth. Students spend at least 8 class periods teaching spread over the two days involved. In addition there is a period of "block" teaching, i.e. up to three weeks continuous work in schools. Students make their own arrangements for teaching practice.
