This course meets the growing demand for specialists who are qualified to work in auditing, corporate governance, assurance and risk management in a variety of companies and organisations.

It prepares you for a management or consultancy career in internal audit, external audit and risk management and assurance.

During the course you develop

* analytical skills and research abilities
* knowledge and understanding of the practices related to the audit function and the part they play in the strategic management of organisations
* problem solving, communication, team work, project management skills and learn to apply information technology

After successfully completing the course you have the skills and knowledge to become an effective practitioner and solve complex business problems.

Optional modules at postgraduate diploma level enable you to tailor your studies towards your career aims. Towards the end of the course you complete a dissertation, investigating a topic of your choice in depth

You learn how to

* use appropriate ethical standards of behaviour in line with the international accounting and auditing bodies requirements
* identify audit objectives
* review and evaluate situations arising during audit engagements
* critique and evaluate techniques to reduce audit risk and business risk
* forecast the implications of the changing environments for audit firms and organisations

Requirements

Normally one of the following

* a 2.1 honours degree or above in accounting, banking, business, finance or economics
* a recognised postgraduate qualification
* an equivalent recognised professional qualification in a relevant subject*

* Relevant subjects include

* business management
* finance
* accounting
* economics
* banking
* law
* the natural sciences.

If English is not your first language you also need evidence of English language competence such as

* IELTS score of 6.0
* TOEFL test minimum mark of 550 paper based, 213 computer based or 79 internet based
