The Geographical Information Management and Applications (GIMA) Master's programme aims to educate students and professionals to become all-round managers and/or researchers of geo-information.

In GIMA,students will be introduced to the theoretical, methodological, technological and organisational principles of processing and analysing digital geo-information, the management and research aspects of geo-information, and the innovative application of geo-information in a wide variety of spatial application fields. The programme may be followed on a full-time (2 years) or part-time basis (4 years). Since it is predominantly a distance-learning programme, extensive use will be made of various ICT media. In addition, the programme requires several periods of intensive classroom attendance. A compulsory internship allows the student to gain practical experience in a (geo-information) working environment. The internship is carried out within geo-information companies, agencies and research institutes in the Netherlands or abroad. Following the completion of the internship, the student submits a report. Extensive career opportunities are available in both the private sector (oil companies, geo-marketing, consultancy, etc.) and the public sector (research institutes, municipalities, regional or national governmental organisations, etc.).
