In the Master’s programme Artificial Intelligence (AI) you will learn how to advance the study of brain and cognition by adopting typical AI tools, such as computer simulation, brain-computer interfacing and robotic design.

Specialisations

Depending on your personal and career interests, you can specialise in one or both of the following domains:

  1. 1. Brain-Computer Interfacing
  2. 2. Cognitive Artificial Intelligence

Moreover, you can specialise in fundamental or applied research.

Unique character

This programme has a unique character, focusing on connections between artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience. Understanding how the brain works and how it supports intelligent cognitive behaviour is essential for effective agent design. In turn, agent design can lead to hypotheses about how intelligent behaviour is realised by humans.

Top facilities

The programme is closely related to the research carried out in the internationally renowned Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. This institute has several unique facilities for brain imaging using EEG, fMRI and MEG. You will be able to use these facilities for developing new experimental research techniques, as well as for developing new machine learning algorithms to analyse the brain data and integrate them with brain-computer interfacing systems. You will also cooperate with the Behavioural Science Institute and work in its Virtual Reality Laboratory, which can be used to study social interaction between humans and avatars.
