Todays Europe is merging together, and contact with other regions of the world is constantly intensifying. This increasingly presents global businesses as well as internationally operating institutions and administrative services with tasks that demand an awareness of the special aspects within this transnational region.
The European Studies programme, a continuing studies programme in the social sciences, economics, and business at the University of Flensburg, will qualify students to work in such an environment. In addition to knowledge of European economic institutions and intra-European relations, students will gain an awareness of the history and cultural development of both the continent as a whole and its regions.
Graduates will be given the tools to work with international corporations with European ties, organizations with international tasks, and institutions developed to work across national boundaries.
This two-year programme leads to an International Master of Arts in European Studies. The language of instruction is English, and the programme is designed for students from all around the world.
The goal of the masters programme is to impart a broad knowledge
of Europe and the European Union.
There is a focus on providing a comprehensive and sophisticated awareness of European legislation, institutional structures and the political system of the European Union and its Member States. Beyond this, the curriculum also explores questions related to the role of Europe in the world economy, European contemporary history,
its philosophy and civil society.
The Master programme lasts two years and is offered in co-operation with University of Southern Denmark. It is an international programme with classes in English. You will be studying with other young people from all over the world. Classes are held at Flensburg University.
The Master programme emphasizes a comprehensive and in-depth insight into relevant European themes within the disciplines of social science and the humanities, such as economic and political theories, European law, European ideas, and European contemporary history.

A special aspect of our study programme is the emphasis on the role of regions and the regional particularities of Europe in a political, socio-economical, and cultural context. This emphasis highlights possibilities for cooperation across borders.
Our programme is a clear example of cooperation as it is a joint project with the neighboring University of Southern Denmark.
