If you have studied economics in your first degree and need a better understanding of policy evaluation and the economics of education for your work in educational policy, this programme will give you the skills you need.
This masters degree will:
* develop your ability to apply economics and quantitative research methods to the analysis of educational issues
* assess the benefits and costs of education to individuals and to society, and use this framework to evaluate education policies in both developing and developed economies
* use quantitative research methods and mixed methods in evaluating specific education policies
* give you the skills you need to appraise critically research in the economics of education and to work on research projects using quantitative and mixed methods

A good first degree in economics and knowledge of basic statistics. You should be involved in, or interested in education policy and administration. If you do not meet these requirements, you may be able to qualify through special procedures, such as qualifying work.
English language proficiency
If your first language is not English, the Institute will need proof of your proficiency in English. We will accept the following evidence:
* IELTS - minimum overall score 7.0 (with score of no lower than 6.0 for writing and 6.5 for reading)
* TOEFL - 650 in paper based test; 280 in computerised test; 114 in internet based test
* Cambridge Certificate in the Proficiency of English - Grade A or B
If you have achieved a score of at least 5.5 in reading and writing modules of IELTS or 500 in TOEFL but are unable or do not wish to resit an English language test, your may enrol for our presessional course in English for Academic Purposes. Please see for more information.
