Through the structure of its proposed courses the program ensures the necessary elements for identification and characterization of the complexity of the abiotic environment, of nature and the social organization, for understanding of phenomena and complex processes in the nature/environment and human society, irrespective of impact of human activity on the abiotic environment (eg. pollution, change of the structural configuration of hydrogeomorphic units), on the biological and ecological diversity (components of the physical structure of the natural capital) and on the functional and carrying capacity of their components.

The program is structured on tow subprograms:

* Subprogram 1: Integrated Management of the Environmental Pollution
* Subprogram 2: Integrated Management of the Natural Capital

In the first semester the program includes those courses addressing the conceptual background of systems ecology, which is indispensable to the future graduates and specialists in the field of management. In the second semester specific courses are differentiated, envisaging mainly the technical background in the field. Semesters III and IV are focused on the development of student´s capacity to elaborate plans for the control and abatement/reducing of pollution (subprogram I), irrespective management plans for local and regional scales (subprogram II). For the elaboration of the dissertation thesis the most part of the IVth semester is planned. It includes elements of scientific research and design of the management plans included in the program from the first master year, with an increased proportion in the IIIrd and IVth semesters.

The master program includes 14 hours per week, but the individual student´s effort is bigger, as 1 ECT = 15 hours.

The study program offer to the students an increased flexibility in the approach and the information presented during the courses and laboratory hours are necessary for their future activities on a broad scale of jobs in the field of environmental protection and management.
