The master´s programme BIOMOLECULES is a novel two-year program beginning in October 2008. It replaces the former graduate courses in Applied Enzymology and is a logic continuation for the undergraduate program of "Technologic Biochemistry". The master's programme in BIOMOLECULES is multidisciplinary, being organized at the crossroads of chemical, biological, physical and computational sciences. The programme is research-oriented with an interest in both fundamental and application-driven research. Students are trained in state-of-the-art techniques ranging from advanced methodologies in biochemistry, protein and nucleic acids engineering, proteomics, genomics, microscopy, bioinorganic, bioorganic, biophysical and bioanalytical chemistry, high-troughput screening techniques, biosensors, modelling of biochemical processes, biocompatible polymers, advanced techniques of spectral characterization.
Classes will be offered in the first and second year by the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Chemistry. Major laboratories in this institution will also provide research training. The programme prepares students for a Ph. D program and a career in University or public research laboratories. It also prepares students for applied research in biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry and food industry.
