The master entitled Chemical Pollution of the Environment is aiming to provide the graduated students of the Faculty of Chemistry (with license) fundamental and practical knowledge in this subject. The area of Chemical Pollution is a large one, highly mediatized due to the direct impact on the population and climate. The selected courses are intending to get students familiar with the most important issues and themes for which Romania should give rapid answers. The courses introduce gradually these problematics. In the first part the students will receive information about the source of pollution (Inorganic pollutants in water and soil, Water pollution with organic compounds, Organic pollutants in water and soil, Insurance of the quality of water resources, Radiochemical pollution. Risk and protection) and will discuss critically the effects of these sources and the properties allowing their cleaning. The analytic methodology to control the quality of the environment and the instrumentation necessary for a rapid processing of the data will be presented in parallel in a direct correlation with the pollutants that have been discussed (Instruments, automatization and analysis in flux for the environment monitor, Analytical methodology in the environment quality control). Another item of the curriculum that should become more familiar for the specialists working in this field is the remediation of the effects of the chemical pollution. In this context the master curriculum includes courses devoted to the explosions control and catalytic processes for water and air cleaning (Chemical energetics and explosion control, Catalytic processes for water and air cleaning). As a last formative issue, this master will offer notions about a non-pollutant chemistry and synthesis of non-pollutant materials. This aspect is covered by the thematics of the courses: Ecologic fuels and Biodegradable materials. Each course is covered by laboratories in which the students have the opportunity to operate modern devices and apparatus. Also, the themes offered the students for the research and dissertation cover modern topics and open new opportunities for the definitivation of the education inside the doctoral school.
