The master's programme for "Interior Architecture & 3-dimensional Design" aims to increase the opportunities available to graduates by a consolidation of academic ideas in specialist-areas of interior and 3-dimensional design as well as the entrepreneurial tasks that may promote the chances for advancement to leading management positions in international enterprises.
The MA degree encourages the thematic development of complex topics in the field of interior and 3-dimensional design. Especially developed for this MA programme and in a novel, efficient, way practice relevant content is conveyed together with problem areas of subject relevant fundamental research.
Interdisciplinary project studio
The tasks will be prepared by the tutors around a "Base Model" and simulate complex large-scale projects such as places of gathering, archiving, presenting, to places of ritual and remembrance, education facilities, to places of transit, of accommodation and to places both public and private. The development of these extensive projects requires continuous co-ordination and communication within the team. Therefore the tasks will be discussed and investigated in the relevant forum of the various special disciplines (associated technologies, art & cultural studies, environment and sustainability & morphology). These design themes will be worked on by small groups of MA students in the project studios together with tutors, guest lecturers and experts in their fields.
Design Laboratory
Tuition in teams and at the "Base Model" is complemented by well-founded craftsmanship and intellectual, morphological and theoretical discussion of the methodologies of design, that continually question, prise open and expand the horizons of established practices.
Master thesis subjects and content integration
The course concludes with a practical Masters project from one of the aforementioned project fields which is further complemented by a theoretical work. The taught cognitive subjects promote intensive interaction between the students with the historical, intellectual, morphological and substantive aspects of the formal work in the field of the interior design. The specialist-area Associated Technologies deals with on the one hand relevant autonomous areas of knowledge, however, in parallel the project studio also attends to research work and project development. Economics and Law focuses on relevant legal issues, business management and marketing. In an intensively cultivated exercise of "team teaching" these skills are practiced and deepened in the form of concrete projects.
The Prerequisite for the Master programme is the completion of a Bachelor degree or an appropriate alternative Degree. This is to be demonstrated in the form of an entrance examination before an examining commission.
