The Master Program in European Studies at the Philosophy Department has a distinct profile: it approaches the problems of a united Europe from a different angle than other similar programs. While other programs focus on legislation, administration or history and culture, the Master Program at Philosophy focuses on values (political, moral, religious) and the presuppositions that lie behind policies and institutions. It emphasizes the analysis of the presuppositions of the ways of thinking, of the ideologies that make Europe such a unique place. There is also an accent in the program on ethics and its practical application: in business, organizations and politics. Linguistic diversity is studied in connection with culture, power and politics. Problems as the European identity are illuminated from a philosophical point of view. Theoretical courses and practical activities initiate the students into the complex world of international relations and European diplomacy. The problems of the environment and its protection are also presented, in connection with the policies of the EU. If you want to make sense of the present day disputes, debates and ideas concerning Europe, Philosophy is the best place for study. This Master Program has been chosen by people who have studied Philosophy, Politics, History, Sociology or other disciplines and, of course, European Studies, during the cycle of the first three years.
