The Master in Computational Physics is a continuation of the cycle I studies, having the same name already functioning in the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest. In the previous years the Faculty of Physics has had a Master Program in Computational Physics and Econophysics.
Modeling and simulation of physical processes and also the acquisition, storage, transmission and processing experimental data using the techniques of Informatics, represent a modern trend in physics. Top research involved in the technology and modern physics are inconceivable without the application of specific computer - assisted techniques. The role of integrative science assumed by physics is based on incorporating opportunities provided by computer science and informatics. The training of specialists who has both good knowledge of physics and informatics is extremely productive to research and industry.
With the new Master, Faculty of Physics meet demand from existing layers of passionate students of both physics and computer science, for which an adequate institutional framework and a well-planned training would facilitate the acquisition of qualitative field at the intersection of the two disciplines. The expectation for the masters of the program is to obtain results in applications of modern physics, modeling, simulation, virtual instrumentation, acquisition and data processing, computational physics, econophysics.
The tradition and results of teaching and scientific research, and the insertion of the faculty members in the scientific international community allow us to believe that the establishment of the Master in Computational Physics , is a movement in a correct direction.
