The master degree program in history of ideas and mentalities has a long tradition in the Faculty of History, being created after 1989 as an expression of the influences of the Ecole des Annales in the Romanian historiography. There are included major subjects in the history of mentalities and the structures of imaginary: the image of stranger and of the difference, the connexion between history and the social imaginary, its political and ideological impact, the constitutive structures and mechanisms of the imaginary and the mentalities. The history of culture offers a specific perspective in that field of studies. The program is organized by the Chair for World History and benefits by research support from the Centre for the History of the Imaginary.
