The "Innovation and Design Processes" degree, has positioned itself at the interface between architecture, design and technology. Due to rapidly changing economic, technological and social conditions innovative design strategies and concepts are in greater demand than ever. To generate innovation, means to be able to look beyond the horizon and sphere of activity of one's own branch. Innovation actually begins even before any design work, through the ability to arrange the underlying processes in new and innovative ways. The multidisciplinary approach of the studies enables animated methods of knowledge transfer between these creative disciplines, thereby opening up space for the development of innovative and unconventional design approaches.
The critical discussion in terms of sustainable product development, as well as the analysis of the humanproduct relationship in different contexts are methodically utilised in the design process and serve as instruments for the conception and implementation of "design-driven innovation". The consolidation and expansion of individual skills and talents through practice-oriented and applied methods is worked on thus extending the team and leadership skills within innovation and design process.
Degree: Master of Design
The study consists of the three main areas Core-Studies/Studio Projects, Scientific/Contextual Studies and Economics and Law. Instruments from the areas of innovation theory, process analysis, design research, visualization techniques (Rhino), the environmental sciences, art and cultural studies, marketing, as well as project and innovation management is intended to support the project work.
The courses are offered in two-week cycles on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as a "Project Week" at the beginning of semester.
The open Masters course requires no previous academic requirements, and is rather aimed at participants who already have several years of professional experience behind them, preferably at middle management level. Suitability for the studies will be supported by the submission of work samples, and after completion of a positive interview with the Head of Studies.
