Contemporary energy systems must fulfil the principle of sustainability. We should not adversely affect the environment and economy prospects of our and future generations. In order to meet these requirements we need knowledge in various fields which involve the analysis of energy systems development.
The course of Sustainable Energy Development includes two balanced groups of subjects. The first group focuses on energy technologies and comprises the following subject areas: physics and chemistry of energy, and contemporary energy technologies with focus on renewable technologies. The second group refers to energy planning and forecasting processes, and comprises the following subjects: management, economics, auditing, planning and forecasting. The course concentrates on providing practical knowledge, and therefore classes, laboratories and projects predominate the course programme.
Our aim is to enable students to gain the ability to analyse and optimise plans of energy systems development. The selection of energy carriers and technologies while taking into consideration the economic, environmental and technological issues is the basis for building harmonized development plans. The competence and knowledge of graduates constitute a firm base for their contribution into energy systems development.
