The Service sector now accounts for about 70% of the GDP of most of the developed economies. Despite this, this sector still displays low levels of efficiency and quality due to the lack of professionals with the right skills. Renowned companies such as Accenture and IBM have called on universities to close this skill gap and prestigious schools such as MIT and London Business School have already responded to this challenge by offering programs in this area.

The objective of the MSc in Service Management is to fill this gap in the labor market by training professionals for the new service-intensive economies (e.g., services in healthcare, banking, insurance, the public sector, consulting, retail, transport, communication, etc.). Graduates are expected to contribute effectively to increasing the productivity, quality and innovativeness of industries and tasks related to services, through the application of rigorous management methods. The program aims not only to teach the state-of-the-art in Service Management, but also to develop capabilities of logic reasoning and behavioral skills that will foster a successful entry into today´s competitive job markets. The program has a highly qualified faculty team. Following the most recent international trends, the program is multidisciplinary in nature, including perspectives from Marketing, Operations, Human Resource Management and Information Systems, among others.

The program is targeted at 1st cycle Bologna graduates (180 ECTS) who wish to develop a career in the areas of design, development and management of services in any sector, including the manufacturing sector. For students from a Management/Economics background, the program works as a specialization degree in the themes that are relevant for managing services. For students from other backgrounds (for example, Engineering, Sciences, and Social Sciences) the program works as a solid training in Management, complementing their first degrees.
