Student will carry out an advanced course of research relevant to the study in question. Research programme will be decided upon after consultation with your project supervisor.
It is a policy of the Biology Department that all postgraduate students will take part in demonstrating at least one undergraduate practical class (usually 4 hours) per week. Additional sessions may be done if agreed with your supervisor. For this work, you will usually be paid at a rate that corresponds to your level of experience. As a postgraduate student, you are also a member of staff of the Biology Department. You will conduct research as part of your team and will write a thesis on the results of this research for submission to NUI Maynooth for the award of an MSc.
Additionally, it is expected that you will present your work in the form of oral or poster presentations at scientific conferences and as written manuscripts published in scientific journals.
