In January 2004 an article in Nature reported that the United States’ Department of Labor had ‘identified geotechnology as one of the three most important emerging and evolving fields, along with nanotechnology and biotechnology.’ It also noted that there were growing demands worldwide for employees skilled in geospatial technologies, and that the Europeans in particular were integrating GIS into government decision making.
The programme will develop students’ analytical and problem-solving skills through the integration of knowledge, insight and skills acquired in the programme. It will also develop appropriate communication skills – these include oral, presentation, cartographic and management skills.
The MSc requires the successful completion of 90 credits, including a 30 credit dissertation.
