This programme is designed to prepare ambitious and high quality graduates to confront practical problems faced by organisations and, with advice and support from faculty members, to take responsibility for a real business project.

You will have the opportunity to gain confidence and independence by working as a consultant for example in a public policy organisation, arts administration, business administration, leisure and media industries where there is an ever-increasing demand for enterprising, original and energetic graduates.

Our many years of experience with student consulting combined with our expensive network of potential clients enable us to secure challenging and career-relevant placements for all students.

Degree Structure
Start Date: October
Duration: 12 months (24 months part-time)

The Partnership
Senior staff identify and make initial contact with clients and discuss the choice of research opportunities with individual students. After a meeting a three-way Agreement is signed by each student, client and Course Director, indicating:

* Topic
* Objectives
* Milestones, deadlines and outcomes
* Resources available
* Outline budget
* Appropriate training courses
* Assessment arrangements
* Intellectual property rights

Course Structure

The Consultant Research Workshop (20 credits) An introduction to the philosophy of research/qualitative and quantitative research methods/access to data/data analysis/report writing

Research Skills in Practice (20 credits)This module is designed to develop the skills required in the application of research related activities in both the academic and employment spheres.

Personal Development(20 credits)This module is designed to enable the students to explore their values, attitudes and interpersonal skills and to provide a platform for continuing personal development.

Dissertation (120 credits) The aim of the dissertation is to provide a critical analysis and evaluation of the project and its processes. Students are required to engage in a reflection of the management and outcomes of the Consultancy, building in a reflexive recognition of their own part in the process.

An upper second class honours degree, or its equivalent.
