In the modern period the natural components of the environment are more and more subordinated by human communities, determining a negative tendency in landscapes dynamics and its health state. The impact of human insertions in the environment reaches levels that exceed the environment´s carrying capacity, making it vulnerable to degradation. In the same time the environment´s artificialisation increases constantly environmental costs supported by the human communities.

All these determine the need of specialists with competences in the pluri-disciplinary analyze of natural environments, in the multi-criteria environmental assessment, in monitoring environmental components state, in the GIS analyze of the spatial and temporal dynamics for diverse forms of human pressure, capable of contributing in pluri-disciplinary teams at the rehabilitation of degraded environments and the sustainable management of the environment.
