Location of Pompeu Fabra University

This interdepartmental MA is aimed at holders of a degree in Political and Social Sciences, Philosophy, Humanities and Law who wish to make a start in academic research in the field of Political Philosophy. This programme lets students to acquire the knowledge and abilities necessary to work as political analysts in institutions or political and social organizations, or to enter doctoral studies in this field (you can enter the PhD programmes of the Department of Political and Social Sciences, the Department of Humanities and the Department of Law).

The main objetive of the MA in Political Philosophy is to prepare researchers in this discipline, with the theoretical knowledge, methodological abilities and the critical and analytic attitude necessary to develop high-level international research and take part in high quality research groups.

Other objectives are:

* To develop the necessary research competence to enter a PhD programme in Political Philosophy in the best international institutions with guaranteed success.
* Prepare high-level researchers in the field of Political Philosophy and in the field of research of the Departments of Political and Social Sciences, Humanities and Law, and develop new lines of research within these Departments.
* Acquire personal competences that improve the chances of the students to successfully integrate in the labour market.


Contents

All the courses are 5 credits ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). Modules 1 and 4 are compulsory for all students. Regarding modules 2 and 3, students will need to choose three courses of module 2 and two courses of module 3.

For the completion of the Final Research Paper (module 4) all students will be assigned a supervisor, chosen among all the professors of the programme (with the exception of the visiting professors).

Requirements

* Official undergraduate degree/diploma (or a bachelor's degree, a degree in engineering or architecture, diplomas, technical engineering and technical architecture diplomas, or, for foreign qualifications, the equivalent qualification awarded by an accredited higher education institution) and the academic transcript of the accredited official training with the average grade at the university of origin. The only degrees subject to be accepted will be those belonging to the following academic fields of study: Health Sciences, Legal Sciences, Political and Social Sciences or Humanities.

* A photocopy of proof of English language (level C1)

* Two letters of recommendation (both academic).

* A letter of motivation (2 pages maximum).
