Lancaster’s MSc in International Business has developed into one of the leading international business programmes in the UK, with a strong international reputation. The MSc provides in-depth coverage of the globalisation process, the international business environment and the operation of international business.
The focus of the programme throughout is international: it provides valuable perspectives on the major industrialised and industrialising economies, as well as developing countries.
The MSc is designed to equip you with a mix of analytical and problem-solving business-related skills with a very strong emphasis on relevant international challenges and issues.
Careers
Graduates from the MSc have gone on to work in a wide range of multinational businesses, financial institutions, central banks, government departments, international institutions and universities around the world. A number now occupy senior positions in government ministries and international organisations where they are helping to shape economic policy and the development of international trade. Others have entered careers in academic research; for those considering this option, the MRes variant of the programme provides an ideal preparation for a PhD in Management.
The core International Business courses on the programme cover: globalisation issues; determinants of the pattern of and latest trends in international trade; the architecture of the international financial system, including exchange rate policies and markets as well as the recent global financial crisis; international political economy, including the international regulatory framework and trade negotiations; the determinants and impact of foreign direct investment (FDI); and extensive discussion and analysis of the activities of multinational enterprises (MNEs). Complementary courses are provided on Economics, Financial Management, International Strategy and Business Statistics.
A wide range of International Business-related optional courses are available in the second term, enabling you to specialise in a particular area or add to your breadth of understanding of international business issues.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
