Location of University of Innsbruck

AstroMundus is a 2-year MSc programme in Astronomy and Astrophysics based on the expertise of a partnership of 5 universities located in 4 different countries: the Universities of Innsbruck (Austria), Padua and Rome (Italy), Göttingen (Germany), and Belgrade (Serbia). The Master offers an outstanding education in all branches of Astrophysics and is closely related with institutions such as: Asiago Observatory, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica -Osservatorio Roma, Belgrade Astronomical Observatory.

The various specialities of the partner institutions result in an increased offer of pathways for the students: Theoretical Astrophysics, Models, Simulations and Computation, as well as Observational Astrophysics based on data from the ground and from space and on the exploitation of modern data archives.

Top-ranked students will be selected for participation and provided with an excellent background in Astrophysics, to introduce them to the world of modern astrophysical research, and foster their future career in this field. The Master will serve as ideal preparation for a subsequent PhD.

The programme is structured in a way to insure a high degree of flexibility in the student path through the consortium. The exchange of lecturers within the consortium and the invitation of guest lecturers and researchers from other countries/institutions further expose the students to the international research in Astrophysics.

At the end of each Master edition, the best Master thesis will be awarded a prize.
