Location of The University of Manchester

You select an area of physics in which to work and are supervised by a member of the appropriate research group in the School. The subject areas available are: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Biological Physics, Condensed Matter, Photon Physics, Particle Physics, Theoretical Physics, Nuclear Physics and Nonlinear and Liquid Crystals. The programme for each student will be constructed to match your selected subject area and will include lectures and a research topic designed to aid undertanding of that area of physics. The programme provides training useful both in industry and research.

Requirements

Academic Requirement - The standard academic entry requirements for a Masters programme (either taught or research) will be a Lower Second UK honours degree, or international equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering discipline.

Langauage Requirement - Overseas applicants need to provide satisfactory proof of English language. For example, TOEFL individual written test score of 5.0, and overall total 570 (paper based), 90 (internet based) or IELTS 6.5. The University of Manchester offers Pre-sessional and In-sessional English Language courses
throughout the year.
