The MA programme covers 4 semesters and is basically an academic-research type programme doubled by a vocationally oriented approach :specific applications and training in computation and formalisation. The focus is on language, language development and relationships among languages: a scientific/theoretical perspective and a vocational perspective. The theoretical frameworks adopted are the latest in the field.
The curriculum includes courses on the phonology, syntax and semantics of English, courses on language acquisition, varieties of English, linguistic change, the structure of the lexicon, discourse analysis and computational linguistics. Students are also required to attend a practical English course.
Linguistics master degree holders have options for linguistic careers in different fields such as education, anthropology, consulting and communications
